IT Technical Writer (Remote)

ICF’s IT Modernization division is a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial, technology department, seeking a motivated Technical Writer to support a cross-functional team working at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to build the future of cohort studies within a serverless architecture.
The NCI Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) has launched a new prospective cohort of study that will recruit 200,000 adults in the United States. The study is designed to further investigate the etiology of cancer and its outcomes, which may inform new approaches in precision prevention and early detection. This new cohort study will capitalize on research innovations to advance the field of cancer epidemiology and prevention.
In collaboration with the Project Manager, plan, track and manage all documentation requirements across project teams.
Support Project Managers and Team Leads in materials development, documentation structure, and research inquiries.
Engage with Subject Matter Experts to support the development and peer review of clear, concise, written documentation in the form of plans, procedures, guides, and roadmaps.
Ensure the requisite documentation is maintained, and current, to meet regulatory compliance.
Define and implement document style guides and standards for all documentation deliverables.
Ensure content and look-and-feel consistency across all deliverables.
Maintain versions of documentation under configuration control.
Assume ownership of project tasks and, with oversight from senior team members, complete key deliverables.
2+ years of experience (or 1+ years of experience plus a Bachelor’s) in the definition and implementation of document style guides and standards for plans, procedures, guides, and roadmaps.
2+ years of experience (or 1+ years of experience plus a Bachelor’s) in functional and/or technical content design and development in any of the following areas: project management, architecture, security, quality assurance, training, and/or change management.
2+ years of experience (or 1+ years of experience plus a Bachelor’s) with the definition and use of document configuration control processes.
US Citizenship is required due to federal contract requirements.
Must be able to pass Tier1 NIH background check.
Foundational knowledge of cloud Computing.
Basic understanding of serverless IT architecture.
Experience working in a fast-paced software development environment.
Experience with the NIST 800 framework.
Preferred Professional skills:
Expert in Microsoft Office products.
Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and project management skills.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines at the same time.
Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and graphics.
