Support the National Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center's (NHTTAC’s) delivery of training, technical assistance, education and outreach services to the field on behalf of the Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP).

OTIP is committed to exploring partnerships to better leverage the public health framework to strengthen data collection, better target public awareness and prevention campaigns, expand training to address the root causes of human trafficking, and empower survivors of trafficking. In support, NHTTAC administers a host of training and technical assistance strategies and interventions to support OTIP grantees, social service providers, medical and behavioral health specialists and public health actors to enhance their capacity to proactively respond to human trafficking in their communities.

Job Description:

The Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Specialist will perform a range of analytical, writing, problem-solving and related work for NHTTAC. Support to NHTTAC includes responding to requests for SOAR trainings, coordinating logistics for SOAR training deliveries (e.g., virtual events, travel, contracts, invoices), working with consultants to develop and review SOAR content, monitor and respond to inquiries through the SOAR help desk.  The idea candidate should also possess a solid understanding and ability to successfully navigate virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom), web content management (i.e., Drupal), and digital marketing tools (i.e., Constant Contact). A minimal level of travel is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to SOAR training requests to support providers, organizations, and communities in identifying and responding to human trafficking using a public health approach.
  • Work with consultants and partners to develop, review, and deliver SOAR trainings, includes contract development and invoice processing.
  • Coordinate and run virtual SOAR training events via Zoom, including registration, tech run-throughs, and training activities.
  • Draft, coordinate reviews, and disseminate eBlasts via Constant Contact to advertise NHTTAC training events, new products, and client-approved communication.
  • Enter data into NHTTAC database (MyOTIP) to track data for SOAR trainings; provide data, as requested for annual reports, data calls, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 

The work requires substantial collaboration with a variety of OTIP and NHTTAC points of contact, as well as with various members of the HT field. The person must plan and carry out concurrent activities that will ensure a timely and orderly provision of a set of deliverables to requesters, both within OTIP and throughout the public health and human trafficking fields. The incumbent must display decisiveness, diplomacy and sound judgment in resolving difficult problems in work assignments, which are often of a complex and sensitive nature. The incumbent must be able to multi-task, and display sensitivity to the confidential nature of OTIP's work and of the communications between OTIP and NHTTAC.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Services, Public Health, Public Relations, Communication or related discipline with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • 2+ years previous work experience, preferably related to human trafficking or other forms of exploitation
  • 2+ years coordinating in-person and virtual trainings, events, and/or large meetings, or other TTA experience
  • Identifies with or has in-depth experience working with underserved, marginalized populations (e.g., indigenous communities, LGBTQ2IA+, foreign nationals)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a public health approach
  • Ability to create and manage timelines, and collaborate with other teams to complete a project deliverable
  • Understanding of the pace and expectation of working in a client-service oriented environment and familiarity with government structure and government agencies
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Teams
  • Experience with video conferencing software (Zoom)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in coordination and provision of training and technical assistance
  • Knowledge of the general nature of the victim services and victims’ rights field 
  • Experience with remote and web based learning, meeting and conference logistics
  • Prior consulting experience with other professional services firms who have a substantial track record to serving the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and/or other similar public sector agencies

  • Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing, demonstrated highly professional demeanor
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work with various levels of internal staff, as well as clients, grantees, and vendors required 
  • Ability to work autonomously and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to create and manage timelines and collaborate with the team to complete a project deliverable
