HL7 Systems Analyst

Job Description:

ICF seeks an HL7 Systems Analyst to join our team supporting a federal Agency in the public health arena. You will need to be thorough and highly detail-oriented, with a strong information technology background, and with solid experience using Microsoft Office Tools. This position requires substantive experience working with HL7, NexGen Mirth Connect, and SQL. Demonstrated dedication to customer delivery excellence, and a track record of working with clients in a professional manner are a must. This position is remote with our federal client in Atlanta, GA.

What you'll be doing:

In this role, you will:

  • Manage Mirth processing of HL7 Messages
  • Manage SQL Server processing for HL7 and XML Messages
  • Manage data extraction, transformation, and validation activities to produce a valid HL7 Message
  • Be part of a small development team and troubleshoot HL7 issues in data reporting
  • Assist with the creation and validation of HL7 documentation related to the project including mapping of LOINC and SNOMED codes
  • Provide HL7 related user support and validation of test messages for users implementing requirements
  • Understand product functionality through testing, working closely with IT team members, and participating in working sessions with the client.
  • Be familiar with the client mission, user base, and client support staff, and apply this understanding to meeting software design and usability needs.
  • Develop presentations and other written deliverables as needed.
  • Collaborate continuously with other IT team members to ensure a cohesive working relationship and unified client messaging. 
  • Participate in daily team standups.
  • Work closely with the software testers and business analysts to achieve common understanding of business needs.
  • Maintain and strengthen the team's reputation for quality and high-performance customer delivery by accepting ownership for work products, while actively exploring opportunities to add value.
  • Perform unit testing to assure that product changes meet business requirements, and work hand in hand with other team members to resolve defects.
  • Provide high level expertise in developing complex software applications involving new technologies, methods, concepts, or approaches
  • Analyze specifications developed by a Business Systems Analyst for such factors as type and extent of information to be processed, designs detailing logic flow diagrams and program code instructions
  • Verify accuracy and validity of programs by preparing sample test data and test plans; correct program errors by revising instructions; modify programs when required by changes in procedures

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience
  • At least 10 years of experience with HL7

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with messaging standards: HL7, XML, LOINC, SNOMED
  • Microsoft SQL Server and the structured query language (SQL)
  • JIRA
  • Knowledge and experience with agile implementation practices.
  • Health Level Seven (HL7) experience
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR)
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Ability to translate technical information into plain language

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Visio, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and experience with Microsoft’s cloud version of the Office suite, Office 365 (O365).

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Team player with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions
  • Ability to mentor and provide guidance to junior team members

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final salary for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The salary range for Colorado is -

$88,722.00 - $150,827.00Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
