Health Communications Specialist

Our award-winning agency is growing and in search of a Health Communications Specialist to support our federal health communications work in Rockville, Maryland. Candidates who can be based out of ICF’s office in Rockville, MD are strongly preferred, but we are open to REMOTE candidates.

The Team

This is an exciting role supporting a team working on meaningful health communications and social marketing projects that help people live healthier lives. The team offers excellent opportunities for growth and mentorship as part of a dynamic and collaborative organization.

The Work

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to respond quickly and efficiently to client requests, often juggling priorities and working with tight deadlines. Experience working in health communications, health education, and/or a public relations/advertising agency is strongly preferred. Experience working with a national health partnership program is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide task leadership for a growing national partnership program, including managing all day-to-day aspects of the program, including partner recruitment and coordination, program correspondence, and the development and execution of quarterly partner meetings.
  • Provide project management assistance across activities to support the Project Director, such as managing the project Smartsheet tracker, preparing work plans, forecasting, quality control of deliverables, and strategic planning.
  • Create and edit communications materials, reports, and presentations using Excel, PPT, Word, and other programs as assigned.
  • Contribute across the project as needed to support project tasks, particularly during busy periods, including materials development and report development.
  • Work collaboratively with a federal health agency client team, subject matter experts, and the ICF team.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working in health communications, health education, and/or a public relations/advertising agency.
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health communication, health education, marketing, social sciences, or equivalent. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proficient in Windows PC environment, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong team orientation with a focus on collaboration.
  • Strong organizational and writing skills, time management skills, and superior attention to detail.
  • Ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions to clients’ communications challenges/problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal (verbal, written), and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities at a given time while interacting with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
  • Experience in government communication and working with a national health partnership program are pluses.
