As a Diabetes Health Communications Manager you will:
Support project managers in strategic communications planning, assisting with digital communications, campaign, materials development, and stakeholder outreach.
Synthesizes complex health information and data to deliver impactful messaging tailored to specific target audiences.
Provide project management support across projects with a focus on materials development including managing project timelines, meetings, deliverables, work plans, staff teams and budgets.
Own project tasks, working collaboratively with other senior team members, and support staff to complete key deliverables.
Support implementation of communication strategies and tactics to reach and engage audiences to increase visibility of government data, resources, and materials.
As a Diabetes Health Communications Manager you will have:
Bachelor’s degree in public health, health communication, public relations, social sciences, or equivalent required.
5+ years of communications experience, government experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience working with federal health agencies, such as the NIH and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, among others.
Experience with federal health agencies, developing, and implementing public health communications campaigns.
Significant knowledge of diabetes and experience developing communication materials or resources for people at risk or living with diabetes and the healthcare professionals working in this field.
Demonstrated experience developing marketing materials and implementing outreach strategies for audiences disproportionately affected by diabetes.
Strong writing skills for various channels including web content, social media, news releases, fact sheets and newsletter copy.
Ability to manage and mentor a team of junior communications professionals.
Ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions to clients’ communications challenges/problems.
Excellent verbal, written, organizational skills, and ability to interface effectively with all levels of the company and client.
Ability to quickly understand problems, synthesize large amounts of information, and provide succinct recommendations that tie back to overall account communication strategies and tactics.
Ability to “connect the dots” across other tasks within the contract and see “big picture” opportunities for contract enhancements.
Job Location(s): Within the current COVID-19 landscape, this role will be supported remotely. This individual will sit in our Rockville, MD office when remote working guidelines are lifted.
