Genomic Data Coordinator

 ICF is a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial, multi-faceted consulting company, seeking a Genomic Data Coordinator. This role will be part of our team working in support of the National Cancer Institute’s Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program (EGRP). The EGRP supports research in human populations to understand determinants of cancer occurrence and outcomes and translates findings to clinical and public health interventions. In this role you will help support implementation of National Institutes of Health (NIH) data sharing policies.  This site is a web-based resource that provides patients, their family members, health care professionals, researchers, and the public with easy access to information on publicly and privately supported clinical studies on a wide range of diseases and conditions.

The place of performance is Rockville, MD. This work may also be performed remotely with approval. Occasional travel is required.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assisting program staff and investigators on collecting the information and documents required for genomic data sharing consistent with NIH policy; participate in meetings and conference calls, and handle correspondence with program staff and investigators.

  • Staying current on NIH policies related to genomic data sharing and participate on committees charged with the implementation of the policies.

  • Maintaining databases and spreadsheets related to various programmatic data sharing activities.

  • Maintaining databases and spreadsheets for tracking and analyzing submission of datasets into the NIH’s Database of Genotypes and Phenotypes (dbGaP).

  • Providing support for all data sharing related activities; create and maintain tracking systems and prepare reports to be presented to senior program leadership.

  • Creating and presenting data sharing training materials to program staff.

  • Creating and distributing newsletters and educational materials for outside investigators.

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining databases, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and other computer applications.

  • Working with staff on meeting and workshop planning.

  • Working with staff on conducting literature reviews, particularly providing scientific expertise in the area of genetic epidemiology and genomic data sharing.

  • Undertake special assignments requiring fact-finding research; draft reports for use by staff.

Basic Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a suitability background check

  • Minimum of Master’s degree in a related field.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience.

  • Knowledge of Genetic Epidemiology or related research or data driven field (Genomics research, Bioinformatics).

  • Knowledge of project management, organizing and tracking data, and reviewing and updating processes.

  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
