Full Stack Software Engineer ( Python )- 100% Remote Position within the U.S.
We are searching for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team!
In this role, you'll be supporting the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI, an agency of the National Institute of Health, NIH) in the development of tooling that facilitates new discoveries by the larger research community through data analysis.
This position will be responsible for developing bioinformatics analysis pipelines, largely focused on COVID response.
What You’ll Do
Work with a team to build scalable web applications
Design domain and data models to support multi-tiered applications
Integrate with external service providers and existing data sources
Write automated tests that support the delivery of quality software
Help define and support your application’s path to production
Work with other engineers to level up their skills
Work directly with stakeholders and team members to set and manage expectations throughout the life of the project
Operate within an agile development process
What you must have:
3+ years of experience delivering resilient, well-tested, consumer-facing web applications
Must reside in the US, be authorized to work in the US, and all work must be performed in the US
Ability to attain a Public Trust clearance. This may require travel in order to pick up government-issued certification documents.
As a contractor to the federal government, you may be required to complete additional background screenings at the time of hire or any time thereafter as requested.

Proficiency writing automated tests
Experience building applications with Python
Familiarity with the Django framework
Strong oral and written communication skills and the willingness to use them
A strong sense of ownership and engagement
