Energy Industry Specialist (Washington DC)

ICF is seeking an Energy Sector Analyst to assist with coordinating programs, projects, and activities focused on energy security and resilience planning with the U.S. Department of Energy. Work includes conducting research, fact finding, and analysis of energy sector policies and infrastructure. In this role, you will gain exposure to senior staff across multiple federal agencies and interact directly with state energy officials and the associations that support them.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate activities between key stakeholders including DOE, national laboratories, and state, local, tribal, and territorial government officials

  • Support technical writing and communications, including editing, reviewing, and formatting documents, and creating presentations and briefings

  • Participate in DOE working groups and collaborate efforts across various DOE offices

  • Create and update short-form content for the DOE website

  • Manage logistics for meetings, including taking effective meeting minutes, tracking milestones and priorities, and following up on meeting action items

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in energy policy, government, economics, communications, engineering, business, or related field

  • US Citizenship

Additional Skills:

  • Strong research and writing skills, and attention to detail

  • Solid understanding of energy infrastructure and markets, including electricity, natural gas, and/or petroleum

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook , Excel)

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • 2+ years of supporting a federal client, particularly the Department of Energy, FERC, or DHS, or working for an energy company or energy industry association

  • **2+ years’ experience with at least 1 year in the energy sector

  • Familiarity with FEMA grant programs is desired but not required

  • PMP (Project Management Certification)
