Energy Engineer - Solar & Storage
Our work is focused on enabling development of and investment in energy infrastructure. Working across multiple project teams, your role as a solar energy engineer will include supporting multi-disciplinary teams, engaging with clients, and supporting our independent engineering and owner’s advisory practice areas. You will be joining a motivated and dedicated team of industry experts to deliver high-value technical diligence support, and offer solutions for mitigating technical and commercial challenges encountered by our clients. You will have an opportunity to work across energy technologies, and engage with clients and industry stakeholders on the opportunities of the evolving energy industry. As a Solar Energy Engineer, you will support our US based technical advisory practice in providing excellence in independent engineering and owner’s advisory, supporting project developers, investors and financiers across the US solar industry and globally.
Our Technical Advisory team works collaboratively with our Power and Gas Market team, Environmental and Planning team, Transportation and Sustainability team, and the greater ICF to provide comprehensive advisory services including strategic, investment, and portfolio management; operational planning; market development; policy analysis; regulatory support; and customer engagement. Consultants at ICF integrate industry experience and advanced consulting and analytical skills.
What you will do:
Conduct PV solar and solar+storage resource and performance modeling for projects of all scales
Draft reports and report sections detailing solar and solar+storage resource and performance forecasts
Ongoing research of solar and storage technologies, generation modeling practices and the state of the industry
Support technical discussions with project sponsors, financiers, investors and other stake holders
Support tool development, and process and procedure improvements as they relate to solar resource
Review solar PV and solar+storage project acceptance testing reports
Work within a close knit team environment comprised of multiple technical abilities and knowledge levels
Complete project work and deliverables within agreed upon time and budget
Support business development efforts including identification, qualification, and pursuit for new work and client opportunities
Support the development of client proposals for new opportunities
Three or more years of professional experience in solar and storage resource and performance modeling including demonstrated expertise working with PVsyst
Working knowledge of solar PV system design and BESS design
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel VBA, Python
3 or more years of professional experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering / physics / meteorology /atmospheric sciences or other applicable discipline.
Working knowledge of solar PV construction practices
Working knowledge of BESS construction practices
Working knowledge of solar and BESS operations and maintenance
Experience in solar and BESS system design optimization
Experience in operational performance review of solar and BESS systems
Experience in performing or reviewing solar and storage system acceptance and capacity testing
Experience working remotely/telecommuting
Experience in consulting
Experience in independent engineering
Master’s degree in engineering
