Energy and Sustainability Specialist (Fairfax, VA Hybrid)

ICF is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated candidate to help clients implement and evolve their energy-efficiency programs. This position will be based in our Fairfax, VA office. Successful candidates will support the implementation of high-profile public-private partnership programs to drive improved energy efficiency across residential, multifamily, commercial, institutional, and industrial markets. They will be part of a team that builds and maintains relationships with key market actors, reviews and analyzes energy consumption data, and collaborates with other team members and clients to develop national and regional strategies to increase participation in energy efficiency programs.

What you will be doing . . .
Strategize and work closely with clients to further the mission of the programs and expand it’s market reach.
Provide high level technical oversight and assistance to stakeholders regarding program implementation and qualifications.
Support the review and analysis of large volumes of program data, in order to support core program processes, ensure program integrity, and distill data into narratives for reports, case studies, etc.
Serve as a source of technical assistance for program participants and maintaining detailed records in a customer management system.
Conduct outreach to build and maintain relationships with key market actors, including home builders, developers, energy rating companies, industry associations, and utilities.
Contribute to the development and deployment of communications, outreach, and training resources, including case studies, webinars, in-person events, and other opportunities.
Coordinate with other team members and clients to develop local, regional, and national strategies to influence the market and increase participation in programs.
Conduct partner recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support to maximize program participation.
Track state/local and national energy and indoor air quality policies that impact residential buildings.
Conduct research and analysis of energy efficiency and industry issues.
What you need to have (Minimum Qualifications). . .
Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field (e.g., building sciences, environmental sciences or policy, engineering or similar) AND 2+ years relevant experience to include project management (additional experience may include: focus in sustainability, energy efficiency or the building sector)
Preferred Technical Skills:
Solid personal computer skills (Microsoft applications, including Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel)
Demonstrated expertise working with large spreadsheets or databases
Ability to analyze residential and/or commercial building systems using energy modeling tools (e.g., REM/Rate, Ekotrope, EnergyGauge, BEopt, EnergyPlus, etc.)
Green building experience or certifications are a plus (HERS Rater, LEED, BPI, etc.)
Familiarity with ENERGY STAR, LEED, and/or other efficiency/sustainability program platforms
Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization software programs
Basic programming skills
4+ years relevant experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Highly developed interpersonal skills and self-motivation
Ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under strict deadlines
Experience working in the residential new construction or multifamily building sector
Familiarity with the development/delivery of public-private voluntary partnership programs
Knowledge of building construction methods, mechanical systems, and related energy use
Experience writing reports, articles, case studies, or other communications materials
Excellent analytical skills
