Energy Analyst (GHG)(Remote or Virginia)
ICF is seeking a qualified analyst to support our expanding energy team which conducts projects evaluating energy markets, greenhouse emissions from oil and natural gas infrastructure, and energy policy assessments. You will contribute to the development of innovative, analytical, high-quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff. This role will gain exposure to multiple teams within ICF by conducting research, data analysis, and modeling to support GHG inventory accounting, policy analysis or to develop energy insights to inform decision-making.
Our consulting engagements typically integrate GHG accounting, regulatory impacts, decarbonization pathways, life cycle assessment, energy market fundamental analysis, infrastructure studies, and economic impact analysis to provide advice on carbon mitigation strategies, energy market trends and investments. ICF’s clients include trade organizations, natural gas companies, and federal and state governments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform energy market research and data analysis related to oil and natural gas emissions, energy policy impacts, and impacts from energy disruptions.
- Complete desktop GHG Inventories including Scope 1-3 assessments.
- Provide research, analysis, technical writing, management support, and reporting on specific technical issues.
- Collect and analyze data for modeling or analytic projects.
- Generate reports and PowerPoints for client deliverables.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics or related subjects
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in energy sector
- Understanding of natural gas emission sources, particularly methane emission sources (i.e. understanding of GHGRP Subpart W, ONE Future, and/or NGSI reporting frameworks)
- Knowledge of natural gas supply chain
- Excellent research and writing skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal settings
- Ability to demonstrate strong quantitative and/or modeling skills, specifically data analysis skilld
- US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previously worked for a natural gas company or consulting firm supporting methane/GHG accounting efforts
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) skills
