As a Consultant with ICF’s Distributed Grid Strategy practice, you will have the opportunity to advance grid decarbonization, integration of distributed energy resources, and resilience across North America. Your projects will be cross-cutting, involving technology, strategy, planning, operations, regulation, and improving electric customer outcomes. You will have an opportunity to apply your utility distribution system experience and knowledge and interact with experts and clients, while building content knowledge and consulting skills. We are looking for an individual who balances strong communication and technical skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
This is a full-time position. Work will be remote as we continue to move through the pandemic. Once on-site work resumes, it is preferred that you would be able to work from one of our ICF Offices (New York, NY or Fairfax, VA). Remote candidates will also be considered!
What you will do:
Work as part of a team supporting clients in navigating challenges related to electric grid modernization, integration of distributed energy resources (DER), resilience, and decarbonization.
Help provide strategic support for utility clients tasked with planning and operating the electric grid amidst changing policy environments and evolving market conditions pertaining to DER, such as solar, energy storage, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, demand response.
Prepare and develop analysis, research, reports, presentations, and other deliverables.
Coordinate within and across ICF teams in complex engagements.
Engage with clients in project meetings.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
2 years of related energy/electric utility industry experience.
Demonstrated ability to work flexibly as part of a project team or independently as needed.
Demonstrated organizational, technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Motivation to learn and take on new challenges.
Ability to take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Master’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
3-5 years of related energy/electric utility industry experience.
Proven track record working on DER technologies and DER integration issues in the electric utility industry.
Experience with power system planning and analysis and/or financial analysis tools and methods.
