Director, Strategic Communications and Marketing

We’re searching for our next strategic communications and marketing director who can take charge and spearhead our communications efforts with our federal clients.

You’ll make a real impact working with directly with our clients to address and solve key their key issues, drive change, oversee and support teams, and grow our business. As our next director, you’ll be a strategic advisor for our team and work with our federal clients to plan, develop, and implement innovative strategies and programs to help them achieve their mission.

You are passionate and knowledgeable about pressing environmental issues, engaging with key partners, and honing messages that are spot on. If you have prior experience working with federal, state, and local programs and/or clients, we'd love to talk to you.

As a Director for Strategic Communications and Marketing you will oversee an expansive portfolio of communication services, including:

  • Collaborating with Federal agency partners and stakeholders to effectively launch and maintain communication strategy and delivery.
  • Oversee and/or develop strategic marketing and communications plans, marketing campaigns, brand development, and other communications-related initiatives.
  • Establishing and maintaining a mission and vision for communications efforts, developing new business opportunities, and leading new business proposal efforts.
  • Overseeing a team who is shaping creative development including content development, campaigns, web design, social media, and graphic design.
  • Overseeing project quality including staff performance, reports, deliverables, project costs, and contract financial performance.
  • Managing and coaching members of the account team.
  • Monitoring staff utilization and conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Establishing and maintaining a mission and vision for communications efforts, developing new business opportunities, and leading new business proposal efforts.

Qualifications for the Strategic Communications and Marketing Director include:

  • Demonstrated communications/marketing experience working within Federal communication efforts.
  • Strong management and leadership skills including experience in building, managing, and growing teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • 15+ years of strategic communications and marketing experience, preferred experience with campaign and branding efforts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent client and customer-facing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Proven success in building and sustaining partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Problem-solver who is highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines at once.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once. Proficient at managing and delegating.
  • Preferably has experience working with or for government clients, or experience working in a PR agency or similar communication setting.
  • Pushes the communications, marketing and digital world forward, using technology and creativity.
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar government communications/marketing projects preferred.
