Compensation Business Partner - REMOTE

ICF is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Compensation Consultant who gets excited by complex compensation challenges and wants to make an impact. Ideal candidates will have a proven history of influencing leadership with a combination of subject matter expertise, relationship-building abilities, and advanced analytical skills. This role is part of a dynamic team that collaborates in the development, implementation, optimization, maintenance and communication of compensation programs that ensure alignment with ICF business strategy, goals and objectives.


  • Support a dedicated business group as the primary compensation point of contact, engaging as a consultant and advisor to proactively act on talent challenges and providing end-to-end client service on compensation-related matters.

  • Build consultative and collaborative relationships with HR business partners, Recruiters, and business leaders on compensation programs and initiatives.

  • Develop and provide guidance on solutions for a wide variety of compensation matters, including job offers, out-of-cycle increases, promotions, retention agreements, etc., ensuring competitive, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.

  • Support company growth by partnering with management, Pricing, Contracts and Talent Acquisition to perform job mapping for proposal positions and to ensure compliance.

  • Manage a variety of Compensation related analytical projects, processes and initiatives including annual compensation planning cycles, career framework leveling, FLSA exemptions, mergers and acquisitions and other ad hoc projects throughout the year.

  • Analyze and monitor fair and consistent application of compensation programs. Anticipate and answer questions that may arise based on the analysis.

  • Review compliance with applicable regulatory requirements regarding employee pay while staying up to date on current related legislation (FLSA, SCA, Equal Pay).

  • Help drive change management and communications associated with new program implementations. Continually improve and iterate on internal compensation projects and processes.

  • Perform analysis on effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programs and model potential impact of alternatives. Consolidate and analyze data sets to distill insights, convey findings and make recommendations.

  • Build and deliver robust compensation-related training, education materials and communications to client teams and stakeholders.

  • Provide direct support of Workday compensation activities, testing, validating, auditing, and reporting.


  • BA or BS degree

  • 6+ years of experience with working in a professional environment in a compensation role, including using critical thinking and critical analysis in one or more of the following fields: compensation, analysis, data mining and optimization, statistics, or data visualization

  • Strong understanding of job content, job analysis and salary benchmarking particularly in the technical services/government contracting/high technology industry sectors

  • Strong working knowledge of compensation related policies, laws and regulations – experience with FLSA, SCA, etc.

  • Excellent analytical and technical skills including advanced expertise in Excel, PowerPoint and HCM systems, reporting and analytics.

  • Experience with presenting complex information to non-technical audiences.

  • A pro-active, forward thinking approach to work; the ability to see the big picture, while managing details.

  • The ability to be comfortable and work independently in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of employees — including excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Continuous learning mindset: takes advantage of ideas, best practices, and external developed solutions

  • Ability to hold a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and timeliness for completion of projects
