Communications Specialist, Social Media (Hourly, Part-Time, Remote)

We’re searching for our next On-Call Social Media Communications Specialist to work with our teams across federal, state, and local government client accounts. Position is remote, but U.S. East Coast working hours are preferred.

As an On-Call Communications Specialist, Social Media, you will:

  • Work closely with account teams and clients to develop and execute their social media strategy in support of their overall strategic communications plans
  • Create social media content, including copy and creative
  • Manage analytics for clients’ social media programs and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Understand myriad social media platforms and best practices to help account teams navigate and engage audiences through social media channels
  • Work closely with creative, digital, and paid media teams in a remote setting
  • Be a creative thinker and problem solver
  • Support social-specific strategy development for existing clients and new business

As an On-Call Communications Specialist, Social Media, you will have:

  • 5+ years of experience in social media
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries to build social media communications plans
  • Demonstrated experience with social media platform management, analytics and listening tools (e.g. Sprinklr, Sprout Social, Hubspot, Buffer, Hootsuite, etc.)
  • Experience in content development and creating an online brand with proper voice and tone
  • Technical proficiency on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience integrating creative, data/analytics, paid media, and/or other client services teams to develop fully integrated, insight-driven campaigns
  • Experience developing social media and communications plans and presenting to leadership teams
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities
  • Ability to explain complex terms in an understandable way
  • Ability to work independently, seek help as needed and contribute to team and company culture
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong proficiency in PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with a federal, state, or local government agency using digital or social media
  • Experience in health or behavior change communications on social media
  • Candidate should have an understanding of 508 compliance and accessibility practices for social media
  • Strong grasp on influencer program development and execution
  • Understanding of the larger digital ecosystem and how social media can integrate into communications campaigns.
