We’re searching our next Communications Specialist II. This role requires a public affairs/public relations/marketing background and will focus on communications and marketing related activities that support a cybersecurity-focused organization.
Strong candidates will have experience advising clients on marketing and communications strategies and executing those strategies. Experience supporting a federal agency with communications is highly preferred. If you are passionate about strategic communications and have the requisite prior experience, we'd love to talk to you. Assist OCISO Federal staff with efforts to enhance and increase information sharing and collaboration among various stakeholder groups.
Provide thought leadership in developing, implementing, and facilitating a communications strategic plan and tactics.
Manage outreach, communications and assist divisions related to all IT security and compliance activities.
Collaborate and make meaningful recommendations.
Gathering, analyze and translate technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel.
Compose technical documents including, user's manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports.
Edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user's manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents.
Conduct research and ensuring the use of proper technical terminology.
Currently holds, or is able to obtain, DHS Fitness Determination
BS/BA in Marketing, PR, Communications, or related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience assisting with media-and social media-related campaigns or activities
Knowledge of public relation, and integrated media.
Must possess a full understanding of FISMA, RMF, DHS 4300, and communications methods.
Preferred Skills and experience:
Excellent communication skills, especially written.
Strong research and organizational skills
PR agency, corporate or government agency experience preferred.
Self-starter, with ability to manage tasks and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
Job Location(s): This position is located in Arlington, VA but is currently remote/telework through the Covid-19 pandemic until federal employees in the Capital Region are recalled back to the office.
