Clinical Psychology Subject Matter Expert (Stigma Reduction)- Hybrid

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Execute and coordinate a program of health sciences research and education targeting mental health stigma reduction and care access.
  • Conduct empirical research to develop stigma-reducing and help seeking promotion products such as, but not limited to, literature reviews, educational materials, professional presentations, briefing materials, etc.
  • Support or lead research initiatives elucidating mechanisms contributing to stigma and assessing the effectiveness of mental health stigma mitigation interventions.
  • Working with stakeholders and the public to educate on the importance of mental health help-seeking behaviors.
  • Apply subject matter expertise in the areas of mental health stigma reduction and care access to develop tools and strategies for use throughout the DoD health system.  This may include, but not be limited to:
    • establishing and evaluating outcomes related to the effectiveness of stigma mitigation education and intervention activities/products;
    • translating clinical and research materials into written products and presentations; and
    • supporting implementation science projects that promote uptake of evidence-based stigma reduction and stigma mitigation interventions within the Military Health System.
  • Provide expert-level policy analysis and consultation services in the areas of mental health stigma reduction and promotion of help-seeking behaviors. This may include, but not be limited to:
    • advising the Government on public psychological health campaigns;
    • providing advice on strategies to prevent stigma, promote help-seeking behaviors, and remove barriers to care;
    • supporting the development of promotional and educational products pertaining to mental health, stigma, and help-seeking behaviors;
    • supporting partnerships within the DoD and with other federal agencies, community programs, and academia; and
    • reviewing/analyzing policy and regulatory documents to identify opportunities to promote anti-stigma initiatives and messaging across the DoD.
  • Conduct literature and policy reviews and environmental scans to parsimoniously inform decision makers of key findings and gaps in the extant literature.
  • Provide logistics and meeting support (scheduling, producing minutes, facilitating, etc.) for mental health-related working groups.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • PhD or PsyD in Psychology (e.g., clinical, counseling, community, combined) from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the degree was granted.
  • At least 10 years of licensed, post-doctoral experience in clinical psychology or counseling psychology.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience as a clinician-scientist in publications of empirical research including: experience reviewing research for the purpose of creating meta-analyses and writing research summaries; experience in the statistical and methodological expertise to support the development and writing of research papers; and review papers of scientific literature and educational materials.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience providing professional presentations for scientists, clinicians, and community members.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in publications of empirical research including reviewing research for the purpose of creating meta-analyses and writing research summaries; and in the statistical and methodological expertise to support the development and writing of research papers and review papers of scientific literature.
  • Present the capacity to collaborate easily with peers, managers, and clients while leading program development to a completed and successful solution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Must be a US citizen.

Desired Qualifications (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills):

  • Prior experience as a federal contractor
  • Prior DoD Psychological Health experience
  • Previous peer reviewed publications related to anti-stigma efforts
