Climate Resilience Lead (International Focus) - Remote USA

ICF is looking for a Climate Resilience Lead (Federal International Focus) to help advance business development and to direct projects related to climate resilience in developing countries.

Location: Remote US or Hybrid any U.S. ICF Office (Preferred locations for this position are DC, New York City, and Los Angeles).

ICF has a 40+ year history supporting climate resiliency and decarbonization efforts.  We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our world-class team and help us continue to grow and serve our clientele in this area.

Job Duties 

The ideal candidate brings great business judgment and deep knowledge related to international climate resilience, including knowledge of physical climate change, climate change impacts in developing countries, and development and implementation of solutions to adapt to climate change, recognizing the challenges and opportunities in developing countries. You have established connections with U.S. Federal agencies addressing climate resilience abroad (e.g., USAID, MCC) as well as multi-lateral development banks (e.g., World Bank and regional banks), are a successful relationship builder, policy expert, project manager, and persuasive written and oral communicator with strong critical thinking skills. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of subject matter experts in climate risk assessment, resilience, planning, and decarbonization. ICF needs a talented and driven team member who understands international sustainability frameworks and resilience policies and regulations to support sales and execution of ICF work in this market space.

Specific duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Anticipate business needs through client relationships and analyses of policy developments

  • Continue to refine ICF’s international climate resilience marketing and business development strategy

  • Drive proposals to meet identified client needs and win new work in a competitive environment

  • Lead and execute climate resilience-related analyses in collaboration with a broad set of ICF experts, academia, and industry

  • Be a public spokesperson for ICF at conferences and other external meetings

  • Identify synergistic teaming partners, and work with industry and stakeholder partners to grow and/or defend the overall market for international climate resilience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional relationship building and persuasive communication skills

  • Outstanding reputation with a well-developed network of contacts in development agencies, multi-lateral development banks, and other funders of climate adaptation and resilience projects

  • Technical and strategic experience leading projects assessing climate change impacts and promoting climate resilience in developing countries, preferably working in a consulting environment

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare for and lead successful proposals

  • Demonstrated skill leading multi-disciplinary teams to produce high-impact results

  • BA/BS in climate science, government, policy, economics, business, or related degree (and preferably a relevant advanced degree)

  • At least 8 years of work experience in a relevant field and preferably at least 3 years of direct experience in a similar role (more experience than these minima preferred)

  • Experience with climate change adaptation and resilience (and preferably also decarbonization)

  • Detail-oriented, entrepreneurial, and possessing strong policy instincts

  • Strong capabilities to deliver solutions to complex problems and to convince others to adopt your vision

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, team-focused environment where you need to build consensus across multiple departments

Preferred Experience/Expertise:

  • Market plan development experience

  • Experience working directly in multiple developing countries

  • Experience developing multi-organizational teaming arrangements to execute complex projects

  • Conversancy in Spanish and French
