Clean Transportation Consultant Analyst

ICF is seeking a Clean Transportation Consultant to support projects addressing transportation’s environmental, climate, and energy impacts. Typical analyses include modeling of emissions reduction, decarbonization strategies, electrification, alternative fuels, and advanced technologies addressing the transportation sector.

Work will focus on scenario analysis, cost and benefit determination, policy, and program development, supporting accelerated deployment of zero emission vehicles, research on industry and technology trends, writing reports, and developing presentations. Target areas could include both on- and off-road transport of people and goods.

Existing knowledge of and experience working with transportation sector emission reduction and/or decarbonization programs is essential.

The successful candidate will also have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Emissions modeling and analysis

  • Criteria and greenhouse gas pollutant emission reduction strategies

  • Clean vehicles and fuels programs

  • Technology assessments

  • Fleet electrification studies

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading or supporting analyses of strategies and scenarios to reduce transportation sector emissions.

  • Leading or supporting transportation electrification planning studies for government and utility clients.

  • Developing and analyzing forecasts of zero emission vehicle sales and market penetration.

  • Developing and analyzing forecasts of the use of conventional and alternative fuels (renewable and biofuels) in the transportation sector

  • Analyzing locations for electric vehicle charging infrastructure and/or stations for alternative fuels.

  • Staying current and connected with the electric and alternative fuel vehicle market, including trends, policies, key players, and more.

  • Leading or supporting the development and deployment of communications, outreach, and training resources, including case studies, webinars, in-person events, presentations, and other opportunities.

  • Interacting with various public and private sector clients.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in transportation, atmospheric or environmental sciences or engineering, energy, or a similar field.  

  • 2 or more years of related work experience, beyond bachelor’s degree.

  • Master’s degree counts as 2 years of work experience.

  • Foundational knowledge in transportation decarbonization, alternative fuels, vehicle technologies, charging/fueling infrastructure, and related areas.

  • Familiarity with air quality and/or human health impact modeling

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational, analytic, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with analytical tools such as Microsoft Excel and R

  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages (Python, C#, etc.)

  • Familiarity using database systems (e.g., MySQL, Access)

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under strict deadlines.

  • Flexibility and sound business ethics.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$64,372.00 - $109,432.00
