Building Electrification Lead
We are looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial individual to serve as ICF’s Building Electrification Lead within our Utility Programs and Services Division. Decarbonization and electrification is taking the center stage in the U.S., and we need a strategic and growth-oriented leader focused on electrifying the building sector. This is a senior level position within our electrification practice and will be strategically focused across the United States, prioritizing areas with significant potential to electrify industrial, commercial, and residential buildings. Buildings are responsible for more than one-third of greenhouse gas emissions in the economy, and decarbonizing millions of buildings will be critical to achieve the aggressive climate goals being set across the country.
ICF partners with clients across North America to provide potential studies, program design and delivery, technical/engineering expertise, program management, IT and marketing solutions, and call center and incentive fulfillment services. Our clients include utilities, Fortune 500 global corporations, as well as a variety of industry, and Government organizations. Many of the programs we implement have been recognized with awards from ACEEE, AESP, SEPA, Chartwell, and others.
The Building Electrification Lead will develop new opportunities and support the existing Beneficial Electrification (BE) line of business to further grow the building electrification segment. The successful candidate is expected to have expertise, industry contacts, market knowledge, and financial expertise that will drive the advancement of the Building Electrification practice. This offering leader will work amongst all areas of the business including business development, proposal writing, program/project delivery, organizational design, partnership development, people management, and financial management.
The Building Electrification Lead, where appropriate, will also support business development, proposal writing and project management in the Flexible Load Management (FLM) group and the Climate Change and Sustainability (CCS) team with a focus on analytic and advisory services related to electrification and utility and state level de-carbonization pathway planning. This includes leading projects/programs where shared resources / coordination are required.

As the Building Electrification Lead, your primary responsibilities will include:
Provide thought leadership and strategic direction to our regional teams and in collaboration with our larger energy business resulting in effective implementation of beneficial electrification strategies and achievement of the business objectives
Lead efforts to sustain and grow our building electrification business with existing and new clients throughout North America
Lead market analyses to inform effective program design and delivery
Provide high levels of strategic and business vision with respect to building electrification, as well as tactical ability to ensure that business objectives are clearly defined and communicated and that internal operations are productive, effective, and measurable
Engage with internal and external partners to develop or leverage capabilities to meet the business objectives
Lead the refinement and/or development of offering(s) to implement a portfolio of solutions to overcome barriers to scale for building electrification and flexible load management solutions to move toward all-electric homes and buildings while accelerating the transition away from natural gas and fossil fuels
Act as executive level contact with clients to understand how ICF’s offerings align with their business objectives
Ensure program and portfolio performance including on-time and on-budget project delivery, excellent deliverable quality, appropriate project staffing, risk mitigation, and client satisfaction.
Play an active leadership role within the organization and within the market through thought leadership, conferences, etc. Be an effective spokesperson and champion for ICF and client offerings
Develop an engaging and inclusive work environment while bringing a strong equity focus to all areas from building a diverse and inclusive workforce to delivering the benefits of electrification equitably
Develop and maintain a network of key stakeholders, equipment OEMs, trade associations, utility partners, policy experts and other sources of insight to inform program design elements
Provide subject matter expertise for multiple large and/or complex sales proposals
As the Building Electrification Lead, the minimum qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or energy related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Demonstrated record of success (10+ years) in setting strategy, managing a portfolio of initiatives, building teams & successfully delivering solutions within the energy efficiency, demand management or electrification sectors
Proven track record of successful business development expertise
Deep understanding of clean energy pathways, barriers to building decarbonization, and the investment/real estate decision making process
Ability to set and clearly articulate goals/priorities and exhibit a high level of energy and drive to achieve them
Demonstrated history that shows investing in the success of colleagues while building productive relationships across a multifaceted organization with a commitment toward diversity, equity, and inclusion
Demonstrated problem-solving ability, entrepreneurial edge, resourcefulness, adaptability & an instinct for surfacing value & pragmatic solutions
Strategic but hands-on leader with exceptional organizational, communications, and people management skills
Ability to forge strategic alliances internally and externally and be able to influence peers across organizations while achieving key corporate goals
Strong business and financial acumen; focused on actions and outcomes
Demonstrated capabilities in developing effective relationships with clients, industry stakeholders, and service providers
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
Ability to work with and inspire all levels of internal staff, as well as clients and vendors
Knowledge of energy codes and standards (IECC, ACCA ASHRAE, etc.)
Experience with energy modeling and building heating and cooling load calculations and methodologies (Trane Trace, eQuest, Energy Plus, HAP, ACCA Manual J, S, M, ANSI/ASHRA/ACCA Standard 183, etc.)
Ability to travel 25% of the time, as needed
