Automation Test Engineer- Rockville, MD

Automation Test Engineer Job Description

ICF is seeking an Automation Test Engineer to support the development of strategic work products for our health informatics clients within the International Health and Development line of business. The engineer would be responsible for developing and testing applications and systems within the data exchange and interoperability portfolio for President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief’s (PEPFAR) Data for Accountability, Transparency, and Impact system (DATIM)

This position is in Rockville, MD (though temporarily remote due to COVID-19) with possible travel around the Washington DC area for meetings with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts like test data, data validation, harness scripts and automated scripts
  • Perform manual and exploratory tests with the goal of automation
  • Execute and evaluate manual or automated test cases and report test results
  • Hold and facilitate test plan and case reviews with cross-functional team members
  • Support all aspects of user acceptance testing by the primary customer and/or users
  • Develop test automation suits to develop regression test scripts as needed
  • Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes
  • Create clear and detail-oriented test plans
  • Liaise with the development team to assist with troubleshooting
  • Work on programming and software development tasks under the guidance of the technical lead and solution architect and senior developers on the project
  • Collaborate with various stakeholder developers, programmer, and testers to develop new features and enhancements to existing components.   
  • Contribute to technical discussions about systems features, functions, and components necessary to continue the build out of foundational elements to facilitate data exchange and interoperability
  • Assist with the documentation activities to facilitate third-party developers’ smooth interaction with data exchange components
  • Perform software development tasks as needed

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems or related technology field
  • At least 5 years’ experience developing Web Services and APIs implementing RESTful applications, and use of JSON, JQuery, and XML/XSLT
  • At least 5 years web programming experience using Java and/or Python
  • At least 5 years of experience with API and web testing, including performance and load testing
  • At least 5 years developing regression testing automation using various tool
  • Experience in continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) experience
  • Experience using Git and Atlassian suite of tools (Jira, Confluence)
  • Understanding of agile methodologies
  • Experience with database concepts and the ability to analyze and write SQL queries
  • Experience with QA processes and methodologies

Preferred:

  • Exposure to Gherkin and Cucumber
  • Experience with Postman, SoapUI, ReadyAPI and similar tools

  • Good communication skills and a team player
  • Ability to adapt rapidly to changing requirements
