Transportation & Smart Mobility Specialist

ICF is seeking a Transportation & Smart Mobility Specialist to conduct digital outreach to employers and partners to encourage organizations to implement employee commute programs that promote the use of sustainable transportation modes such as ridesharing, transit, biking, walking, and telework. The Specialist will also conduct occasional onsite events and meetings. Additionally, the Specialist will also provide member support functions for individual members in the program. The work performed by the Specialist will support the region’s transportation demand management program (TDM).

The Transportation & Smart Mobility Specialist will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with potential partners in the upstate region, helping these partners implement sustainable transportation services offered through the region’s TDM programs, leveraging the industry’s evolving focus in shared-use mobility and mobility on demand alongside the traditional demand management strategies. This person would be required to hold meetings with executives and manage digital outreach events with employees to promote transportation demand management strategies. The Specialist will also be responsible for various member support functions including database management and program reporting for the entire program.

The Specialist should have at least two to five years of experience in conducting and building outreach in sustainable transportation or a related field. A master’s degree in a related field can be considered in lieu of the years of experience. Experience with outreach involving changing travel behaviors through transportation demand management is preferred, but outreach in a related field in areas such as sustainability, mobility, and the environment will be considered. Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and effective and efficient organization capabilities are required. Preparing correct and on-time activity reports on a weekly and monthly basis will be required. You will be expected to work as part of a virtual team to execute tasks that support the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services. These tasks may also include supporting marketing or technology development efforts. This position will be based in Albany, NY. The position will require occasional travel within other surrounding upstate regions.

The successful candidate will have experience in some of the following areas:

  • Supporting deployment of operational programs, products, and services that reduce single-occupancy vehicle (SOV) commuting and vehicle miles of travel (VMT).

  • Commanding a knowledge of appropriate mixes of TDM/Commuter Choice activities for different traveler, commuter, employee, and employer situations, and how effective techniques can be applied and evaluated.

  • Ability to demonstrate local knowledge/experience of commuting habits in the region and/or comparable regions.

    • Working with the business community, local/regional organizations, transportation information programs such as 511, transit providers, and other TDM and shared-used mobility service providers.

    • Public relations, marketing, market research, training workshops, and innovative techniques to promote participation in programs.

  • At minimum, a general knowledge of GIS with the aptitude to gain basic GIS skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Digital prospecting and following up with potential and existing business partners

  • Planning and launching individualized digital campaigns to maximize outreach efficiencies on a local level for the program

  • Holding digital outreach events and meetings with program partners, and in the future conducting onsite events and meetings

  • Supporting performance measures and reporting administrative efforts

  • Managing individual member inquiries, administrative support, and communications

  • Drafting and executing presentations

Qualifications & Professional Skills:

  • At least two to five years of experience in a sustainable transportation market

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or related subject. Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Strong computer skills, including skilled in spreadsheets, presentations, word documents

  • Strong written and oral communications skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Able to work well in teams, both in-person and virtually

  • Able to immediately begin prospecting efforts with little training or guidance needed
