Digital journalist - intern

We are urgently looking for a journalism trainee to work with a small team behind the EU's digital popular science outlet Horizon-magazine.eu.

Looking for someone proactive, enthusiastic and with good attention to detail to research stories and produce videos for our social media channels.

If you’re interested in getting into digital storytelling to understand the science behind the biggest challenges of our day from climate change to Covid-19 then we’d like to speak to you.

Tasks:

• Generating video ideas from Horizon articles
• Pitching, researching and scripting videos
• Contacting researchers re footage/stats
• Finding suitable clips on image banks
• Coordinating with the Digital Producer and Video Editor
• Quality checking video against script/credits/packshot etc
• Assisting with video admin such as IPR forms & declaration of pre-existing rights
• Researching ideas and data to produce graphics

Skills:

• Interest in science
• Strong organisational skills
• Ability to bring a story to life in visual form
• Research and reporting abilities
• Familiarity with Adobe creative suite (Premiere, AfterEffects, mainly) is a strong plus
• Interest in creating graphics and data visualisation is preferable
