Developer
Reporting to the Digital Director, you’ll be part of a growing digital team based at our Leeds studio. Working alongside senior specialists in software development, UX strategy, UI design and digital project delivery.
You will also regular work with ICF Next colleagues across the wider agency, including programme managers, strategists, content writers, graphic designers and film professionals – both in the UK and internationally.
What you do:
Work on the development and deployment of digital communications and engagement solutions for both global brands and public sector organisations. From digital marketing comms, websites and apps, to interactive and immersive technologies – you will apply your creativity, technical expertise and professionalism to solve problems, rise to challenges and strive to deliver above and beyond expectations.
Specifically, the role involves:
Working as an individual or as part of a team to create and deliver a wide variety of digital comms and engagement solutions – whether fully custom built, or through working with existing platforms to create highly engaging customer experiences
Collaborate with programme managers and colleagues to fully understand the client and user requirements. Participating in briefing sessions, workshops and proactively seeking answers to questions to ensure your work exceeds expectations
Work closely with team producers to ensure work is quoted in advance, tasks are identified and prioritised, deadlines are met, work is quality checked and tested and stakeholder expectations are managed at all times.
Work with team colleagues to ideate, research and prototype solutions in response to briefs, acting as a trusted advisor whilst applying best practice and technical expertise to deliver effective solutions.
Work with team colleagues to ensure all UX/UI designs, content, functionality and security considerations have been considered in advance and successfully implemented as per the agreed technical scope, whilst ensuring team development practices and standards are fully adhered to at all times.
Occasionally work onsite at a remote location to deploy and deliver live or virtual event digital technology solutions you’ve created to end users and clients.
Support with the delivery of quality control procedures and pre-go-live testing. Clearly capturing issues and working with team colleagues to resolve and retest as needed
Carry out various development team related housekeeping and maintenance tasks, on applications, hosting environments and domains, ensuring our systems are optimised and data is securely managed
Fervently engage in personal skills development to enhance and optimise your programming skills and technical capabilities, both in and out of work. Keeping up to date with the latest development techniques, tools, trends and technology, whilst striving to enhance your contribution to the team and share learnings with others.
Who you are
Experience and Knowledge
Degree qualification or similar in computer science, software engineering, creative web technologies or similar
Relevant industry experience working either within a digital marketing or software development team
Portfolio of work which includes examples of web applications and ideally digital marketing solutions you have created
A good understanding of digital marketing, online development best practice with experience working with CMS solutions preferred
Skills
Established front-end development capability in HTML5, CSS3 and client-side JavaScript (ES6+) with good working knowledge of third-party APIs, services
Some knowledge and experience using platforms as a service (PaaS) such as content management systems (CMS), customer relationship management (CRM), email service provider (ESP) and lead capture platforms would be advantageous
Computer literate, with good understanding of PowerPoint, Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator and Figma preferred
Good understanding of version control and deployment using Git, and pre-go-live QC/UAT testing preferred
Some knowledge and experience of server-side JavaScript (Node.js) would be advantageous, with willingness to learnand develop new skills – essential
Confidence with good communication and interpersonal skills, a good listener and a great note taker
Logical thinker with drive and determination to solve problems and with exceptional attention to detail
Organised with the ability to prioritise and work through tasks and act decisively in an every changing fast-paced creative environment
