Senior Communications Specialist

We’re currently hiring for a Senior Communications Specialist.

This position will support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) in Atlanta, GA. The OCIO supports CDC’s overall mission to save lives and protect the American people against health threats by putting public health science into action through IT innovation and modernization.

The Senior Communications Specialist will provide internal communications support to OCIO by improving the techniques and approaches used in IT development, operations and support. The individual in this role will be responsible for coordination with the client and other ICF Next teams. This position will be located on-site at CDC offices in Atlanta, GA.

As a Senior Communications Specialist, you will:

  • Lead project management activities which include facilitating strategic discussions, tracking deliverables, and aiding with general management and organizational activities

  • Coordinate and document collaboration opportunities across work teams to ensure communications and activities are aligned, redundancies eliminated, and overall timeliness and accuracy is increased.

  • Build partnerships within agency to gain recognition on initiatives and visibility of efforts.

  • Assist with the evaluation of current IT processes through risk assessments, gap analysis, leveraging best practices and documentation of recommendations to update processes.

  • Develop and drive the successful implementation of a communications strategy

  • Develop communications to explain and promote the use of new technologies, improve customer service and increase engagement with OCIO stakeholders and customers.

  • Support OCIO in their efforts to automate business processes and enable real time collection of data, analysis, monitoring and reporting.

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement ongoing outreach, promotional, and communications efforts designed to educate audiences about new business processes/information.

  • Coordinate with internal creative and technical teams to ensure communications materials are developed on time and within budget

As a Senior Communications Specialist, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree, required

  • 7-9 years of previous relevant experience as communications professional in an agency or similar environment

  • Proven internal communications and change management experience

  • An understanding of information technology as it relates to increased efficiency in business processes across a company or agency

  • An ability to communicate complex information to audiences

  • Excellent client relationship skills working in a dynamic client environment

  • Results-driven, creative thinker with innovative approach to problem solving

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet aggressive deadlines

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Job Location(s): Within the current COVID-19 landscape, this role will be supported remotely. This role will ultimately sit onsite in our Atlanta, GA location when remote working  guidelines are lifted.
