Senior Manager, Energy Efficiency

Field Operations Lead for Eastern Region

Job Description:

To support our growth, we are currently seeking a Senior Manager for our Commercial Energy division to manage and grow ICF’s energy efficiency programs. You will lead the development and management of multiple energy efficiency programs including both Residential, Commercial and Industrial programs, build relationships with clients, mentor junior staff, design/implement program strategies and plans, as well as develop and execute marketing and recruiting strategies. This position is primarily responsible for management and strategy for field services associated with multiple programs and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program design, including identification, analysis and selection of appropriate approaches and strategies to delivery field activities associated with programs
  • Program implementation including development and execution of detailed and effective staffing, implementation and management plans
  • Business development activities including building client relationships, strategy and approach to bidding opportunities, and writing proposals
  • Providing quality control and budget accountability for field services, programs, and launch activities. Driving opportunities for growth and increases in profitability associated with new or existing work
  • Support, and in some cases lead, start-up efforts of programs within an assigned market, identifying requirements, developing scope of works, staffing, and providing forecasting for budgets, and energy savings
  • Maintain client relationships and provide oversight on projects including day-to-day work performance, subcontractor and staff management, and financial performance for one or multiple clients
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients, subcontractors, key partners, and Program teams 
  • Work closely with regional operations team to ensure the success in delivering field activities across programs 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree (Concentration in Engineering or Energy Resources, Sciences, Policy, Business) required
  • 6+ years of experience developing and administering successful energy efficiency programs, with specific expertise focused on the commercial and industrial sectors
  • 6+ years of experience managing consulting projects for utilities, state energy offices, state/local governments, and regional non-profits
  • 6+ years of experience designing and implementing strategic energy efficiency and demand reduction programs
  • 10+ years of experience in delivery of field services associated with Residential or Commercial customers including the staffing, training, workforce management, and selling of services 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Master's degree
  • Knowledge of the utility and energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed energy resource markets
  • Ability to manage individuals remotely and in-house. Staff will consist of energy analysts, engineers, marketers, account managers, communication specialists, and technical trainers
  • An understanding of energy management, regulatory support, design, account management, and engineering
  • Industry certifications, professional affiliations, and publications
  • Experience developing and executing on plans and forecasts for program budgets and energy saving goals

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
  • Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors
  • Superior interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
  • Ability to be flexible to handle multiple priorities
