Disaster Management - FEMA PA - Nassau

If you have prior experience with FEMA PA, we are looking for several on-call team members for Nassau, NY to interact directly with applicants for federal assistance provided by FEMA and also CDBG.   

ICF is seeking experienced Emergency Management Public Assistance personnel to support our Disaster Management team for On-Call work when needs arise for Disaster Recovery and Capital Project Management.  We’re looking for seasoned, FEMA PA professionals only!  These roles have a lot of flexibility for the right candidate.  If you are willing to consider on-call and/or full-time roles with benefits, please apply! 

As we move forward in support of the needs for FEMA in Nassau, NY, we’d like to employ local candidates whenever possible with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in FEMA PA.  We’ll be hiring the following On-Call roles:

The ICF Disaster Management division works with government agencies and communities to design and implement policies and programs to promote increased resilience to disasters through economic and infrastructure recovery after disaster strikes. Our functional expertise is in program management and operations, planning and preparedness, technical assistance and training, strategic communications and outreach, compliance and monitoring, and performance measurement and evaluation. Clients include states and localities administering HUD and FEMA funded disaster recovery programs. We often work in close collaboration with ICF experts across the firm on related issues such as energy efficiency and green building, infrastructure, financial literacy, and workforce development. All our work is done in a professional, collegial, and intellectual environment that allows individuals pursue their passions and generate results. 

You will be responsible for ensuring that individuals, families and local governments affected by disasters have access to the full range of FEMA programs in a timely manner and that the best possible level of service is provided to applicants in the administration of these programs. Additional responsibilities include developing partnerships with the States, voluntary organizations, the private sector and other Federal agencies that are delivering similar kinds of assistance to the same groups of individuals.

What you must have:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in FEMA PA
  • 2+ years in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)

  • Bachelor’s degree may be required and is preferred for some management roles
  • Excellent customer service skills to facilitate public assistance to applicants
  • Meeting with applicants throughout all phases of the application process
  • Using FEMA’s delivery model to track applicants’ projects
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in participating in informational meetings and gatherings to the general public and communicating program eligibility requirements to larger audiences
