ICF supports a broad mix of federal, state, and local government and private-sector clients on infrastructure improvement projects, restoration and planning projects, and compliance with mandated government programs. ICF provides an array of integrated services in environmental planning and natural resource management, especially in the transportation, water, energy, and natural resources sectors.

  • Conducting shadow analyses.
  • Preparing public outreach materials (posters, brochures, handouts, web site content).
  • Conducting field work and taking photos for use in visual simulations or analysis.
  • Working in project teams on multiple concurrent projects with widely varying graphics and visual needs and schedules.

Occasionally, the work involves creation of highly designed booklets, logos, web sites, posters, signs, or presentations, but the large majority of day-to-day work is preparation of maps and information graphics for technically-oriented environmental impact assessment, planning, and permitting documents.

  • Expertise in preparing visual simulations.

  • Experience with or desire to learn Avenza MAPublisher, a 3rd-party plug-in that adds GIS functionality to Adobe Illustrator.
  • Ability to work in project teams and self-manage multiple tasks and deadlines to accommodate shifting project schedules and needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Either an academic degree or a strong personal interest (not necessarily with professional experience) in one or more of the technical disciplines involved in environmental planning and assessment (e.g., biology, geography, cultural resources, transportation, landscape design, earth science, etc.)
  • Advanced Photoshop skills (extensive layering, masking, and image compositing) plus basic 3D modeling/rendering skills for use in preparing visual simulations.
  • Familiarity with Federal and/or State environmental or planning regulations.
