Communications Coordinator, Community Development

ICF is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support the award-winning HUD Exchange website. The HUD Exchange centralizes resources for HUD’s grantees, providing trainings, tools, program information, tools, mailing lists, reports, help desks, and much more. What You Will Do:

You will provide support on tasks such as content development, marketing, customer inquiries, and training. You will contribute to delivering fresh, innovative, and user-focused content and responding to a wide array of customer needs to support affordable housing and community development. You will have an opportunity to provide an exceptional customer experience for visitors of the HUD Exchange which include state and local governments, nonprofits, Public Housing Authorities, tribes, and the general public.

  • Work with a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team of HUD subject matter experts, content managers, software developers, graphic designers, user experience experts, data analysts, and more
  • Develop knowledge of HUD’s programs to inform content and respond to user needs
  • Provide help desk and webinar support, including policy and technical support
  • Support website development and maintenance, including managing web content and developing and updating webpages and tools, developing and disseminating newsletters, email campaigns, and other communications
  • Support webinar planning and logistics
  • Assist with conference and meeting planning tasks, including registration, marketing, and outreach
  • Assist with developing and preparing written and web products, training materials, or other deliverables to clients
  • Draft and edit content for clarity, readability, and effectiveness
  • Develop and maintain protocols, templates, and tracking tools
  • Providing general project support (note taking, budget tracking, monthly reporting, invoicing, data analysis)

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree, Communications, Public Policy or other related degree path
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
  • Ability to effectively write communication that responds fully to an individual’s question in a helpful tone
  • Ability to tailor communications for the web and to people with varying levels of technical understanding
  • Excellent copy editing and QA/QC skills
  • Outstanding customer service including being able to remain cool under pressure and possessing a no-problem-too-big-or-too-small attitude
  • Passionate problem solver with good judgment and strong analytical skills who can resolve project roadblocks and troubleshoot issues in a time sensitive environment
  • Demonstrated leadership and self-motivated
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks with competing deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • An extremely strong and demonstrable work ethic
  • Technology savvy individual who is eager to learn about web applications and software

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Experience managing email communications, social media, and multimedia sites (such as YouTube, Flickr)
  • Experience making web content user-friendly and 508 compliant
  • Experience in web development/design
  • Knowledge of HTML
  • Interest in doing good and supporting affordable housing and community development
