Civil Engineer

Join the ICF team and make a difference! Our growing Disaster Management Division makes BIG things happen every day. ICF is seeking a Civil Engineer to help the State of Texas manage federal grants to carry out strategic and high-impact activities to mitigate disaster risks and reduce future losses in its communities.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performs floodplain mapping and analysis
  • Carries out drainage analysis and design
  • Performs floodplain reclamation studies
  • Carries out hydraulic, hydrologic and hydrodynamic modeling and qualitative data analysis and interpretation
  • Managing tasks and working closely with multidisciplinary technical, programmatic and administrative teams
  • Conducts computer ­aided design and drafting of site layout, roadway, grading, and utility systems using tools such as AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • Assists in report preparation, site reconnaissance, and communications with the ICF project team.
  • Reviews regulations and standards necessary to carry out project design and permitting work.
  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, tests, and other topographical and geologic data to inform and design resilient water and land resource projects.
  • Incorporates schedules, budgets and project criteria into civil design and layouts.
  • Conducts site visits at active construction sites to examine field conditions, site work that is under construction, site utilities, sediment and erosion control inspections, and as-built conditions.
  • Works under supervision of Project Manager or Senior Civil Engineer.
  • Utilizes standard techniques, procedures, and criteria while gaining understanding of advanced methods.
  • May be required to conduct dam break analysis.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering, other related engineering field or water resources
  • At least 6 years of experience in a related role, including experience in surface water analysis and modeling Experience with HEC-RAS, RASMapper, HEC-HMS, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, APSWMM and related software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Texas, or PE in another state. If PE in another state, you may be required to apply for reciprocity in Texas
  • Strong organizational, technical, and communications skills
  • Commitment to working efficiently to complete tasks within allotted schedule constraints

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for municipal, development, state and/or federal clients.
  • Experience coordinating with multiple disciplines including urban planners, local floodplain managers, program managers, architects, developers,  and other engineers
