Early Childhood TTA Specialist

Early Childhood Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Specialist – Client Site DC

Part-time Role

Primary responsibilities for this position will involve going onsite to early childhood programs in DC and providing strategic technical assistance and training in order for the program to meet a wide variety of quality standards including CLASS, ERS and NAEYC.  Candidates must be experienced early childhood classroom coaches with experience building positive working relationships, assessing a classrooms areas for improvement, developing strategic action plans for improvement and providing follow up review, assessment and support.   Candidates must be able to provide resources, share best practices,  develop training plans and training PowerPoints and handouts.  Candidates must be excellent relationship builders and be outstanding communicators, able to manage multiple tasks and timeline and be versed in a wide variety of early childhood topics and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues.   

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, early education, or related subject
  • 10+ years of experience with providing support to early childhood programs by observing and assessing a program’s need and applying strategies to ensure the program meets quality standards and curriculum requirements
  • Experience in early childhood education programs regarding classroom management, curriculum implementation, teacher: child interactions and social emotional programs
  • Experienced early childhood trainer and coach including developing and tailoring content to meet a specific audient and adapting techniques and approaches to meet an individual’s needs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access) is essential in this fast-paced and client-oriented environment

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Master’s degree in education, early education, or related subject
  • Certified PreK CLASS observer  
  • Knowledge and experience with Environment Rating Scales
  • Knowledge of early childhood curriculums, Creative Curriculum and TS GOLD  
  • Knowledge and experience with NAEYC accreditation
  • Knowledge of adult learners and coaching theory
  • Experience with DC PreK programs

Professional Skills:

  • Experience in building strong working/coaching relationships with diverse groups
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills  
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to prioritize needs of large programs
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities  
  • Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment  
  • Ability to be flexible to handle multiple and changing priorities   
  • Ability to apply detailed knowledge of early childhood best practices, work independently and serve as an outstanding and credible resource and coach in the early childhood community
