Manager, Quality Assurance

  is responsible for establishing a strong QA practice including a demonstrated ability to create and foster a strong team, implement and execute appropriate quality processes and standards, as well as a track record for solid QA execution and overall product/release quality. The QA Manager  

You Are: 

  • An investigator, reviewing program / system requirements documentation in order to determine if the program will conform to requirements 

  • A gatherer, gathering business information in order to understand what and how to test 

  • Extremely detailed, leaving no stone unturned when drafting test documentation

  • Digitally savvy, functionally testing websites and mobile applications of a variety of tools, emulators, browsers and devices in both English and French 

  • A troubleshooter, looking for the root cause in any defect or issue uncovered 

  • Quality focused, ensuring every piece of work is delivered defect free and with the highest possible quality 

  • A superior collaborator, working closely with Project Managers, Creative, Developers and Operations staff to successfully deliver high quality projects 

  • A coach and mentor, with the ability to motivate QA staff, assist in skill development, and support the resolution of any team issues 

  • A leader, who works closely with the management team in order to align to organizational targets, vision, and goals 

  • Well organized, able to take on a large amount of work and always able to stay on top of the status of deliverables 

  • Driven the Quality Assurance practice 

  • Process oriented, with the ability to define and refine processes, and flexibility to step outside of the process if needed 

Your Key Responsibilities: 

Here’s what you’ll be doing day to day… 

  • Scoping: Working closely with Project Managers to scope QA efforts and managing the QA timeline 

  • Requirements Review:  

  • Documentation: Creating test documentation, including test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts 

  • Review: Reviewing and proofreading of creative assets (design and copy) to ensure compliance to client feedback and approvals 

  • Execution Performing testing on websites front ends, mobile applications and application back-ends including the following types of testing -  

  • Functionality 
  • Regression 
  • Performance 
  • Security 
  • AODA 
  • Change Management Managing defects and change requests 

  • Troubleshooting: Miscellaneous troubleshooting and production support; helping identify barriers and root causes of data issues and performance gaps 

  • Process Helping to create and revise software quality standards and test procedures  

  • Meetings Coordinating and actively participating in development and review meetings 

  • Reporting: Providing feedback and status updates to both client stakeholders and management on  work quality including creating dashboards and reporting data on testing progress 

  • Participate in deployment process and post deployment to ensure service delivery quality is being maintained  

  • Facilitation: Conducting efficient meetings, and ensuring detailed agendas and meeting minutes are distributed to all parties 

  • Collaboration:  

  •  Effective and detailed communication of QA status and defect details in person, via phone, email, etc.  

Your Experience & Intangible Traits: 

  position will possess the following competencies: 

  • 8+ years of experience as a Software Quality Assurance professional 

  • Strong interpersonal, communication,   

  • Sound understanding of web application technologies 

  • Experience with JIRA and other products from the Atlassian suite of products 

  • Experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium 

  • Experience with SMS testing and subscriptions  

  •  LoadUI 

  • Working in a Linux environment and viewing server log files 

  •  high performance  

  • Capable of clearly communicating complex issues to technical and non-technical personnel 

  • Experience with full software development life cycle and process improvement methodologies 

  • Able to balance priorities and communicate effectively in a fast moving, agile, product development environment 

  •  detail oriented  

  • Ability to work well with a wide range of individuals and help solve complex issues 

  •   Test Cases and Test Scripts 

  • Experience in a digital agency environment 

  • Experience with security testing a major asset 

  • Experience with scripting and automation is major asset 

  • Familiarity with Canadian privacy and spam laws as asset 

  • Leadership experience, having managed multiple direct reports 

  • Strong educational and job experience in development of Quality Assurance processes 

  •  or equivalent
