Cybersecurity Analyst/Information Assurance Support Officer

The candidate will provide Information Assurance/Cybersecurity support for enterprise and laboratory systems. May function as a systems administrator for laboratory systems. The Cybersecurity Analyst/ISSO will provide the Information Assurance Manager’s (IAM) office with support and guidance through established Department of Defense (DoD) and Army policies and well as organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep lab systems up to date and compliant with all IA requirements (Antivirus, IAVA and patching compliance, DISA STIGs, etc) and maintain system’s security posture.
  • Ensure log files and audits are maintained and reviewed for all systems and that authentication (for example, password) policies are audited for compliance.
  • Perform risk assessment on the impacts of system modifications, including software and policy exemption requests
  • Support the development of technology program protection plans, and develop/review system's security documentation in order to identify potential security weaknesses
  • Recommend improvements to address vulnerabilities, implement changes, and document security relevant changes
  • Report Security Violations to the IAM office and work through any mitigating tasks as needed
  • Ensure that all ISs within their area of responsibility are certified, accredited and reaccredited.
  • Write and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide quality customer service.

Required Professional Skills:

  • Understanding of DoD and Army IA policies, guidance, and best practices
  • Working knowledge of system administration, patch management, DISA STIGs, IAVA etc.
  • Knowledge of NIST 800 Special Publications, Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) and other significant federal regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft, Apple and UNIX operating systems
  • Competent understanding of network architecture
  • Ability to develop effective written procedures and SOPs to guide daily operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work on multi-functional teams
  • Excellent written, verbal and problem solving skills.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office products for creating documents using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security clearance
  • DoD 8570 compliant (minimum IAT-II) by obtaining/maintaining required certifications such as; Security+, CySA+
  • A total of 3-5 years relevant IA/Cybersecurity experience
  • Experience with vulnerability patching
  • Experience configuring systems according to the DISA STIGs
  • Mature, self-motivated, adaptable and able to work well in a group environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to develop and execute detailed written plans for complex software and hardware implementations.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience supporting and configuring network infrastructure in accordance with DOD policies and procedures.
  • Technical certifications (particularly in the security domain) are a plus.
