Job Description:

  • The Health, Environment, Analytics, Resilience, and Social policy (HEARS) group works to improve the conditions of America's most at-risk populations-reaching out directly to the populations in need, as well as providing strategic consulting support to workforce development and human services agencies throughout the United States.
  • The Workforce Innovations and Poverty Solutions (WIPS) Team provides rigorous research, evaluation and technical assistance to address a diverse set of critical social issue areas including employment and workforce programs, career pathways, fatherhood and family support initiatives, and interventions for families in at-risk situations. 
  • We are seeking 2 Master Trainer candidates to deliver dynamic and engaging in-person, virtual, and/or web-based train-the training to career facilitators working with transitioning U.S. service members worldwide.  We want you to apply!

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Master Train-the-Trainers for career transition workshops for Transitioning Service Members held worldwide. Lead at least four 5-day trainings for approximately 100 facilitators each at CONUS and OCONUS location in Fall/Winter 2019 in Washington, DC; Atlanta, Georgia; and San Diego, California on given curriculum.  Additionally provide a small number of trainings at OCONUs locations.
  • Deliver and leverage for learning a range of instructional materials including classroom-based training, online training and performance support tools, self-paced guides, job aids, etc.
  • Enhance the use of training facilitator guides to ensure training is effectively communicated, appropriate learning methods are employed, and confirmation received from participants that learning has occurred (or remediation; further learning needs to occur).
  • Use virtual training platform (Adobe or Skype) to provide virtual classroom instruction tasks and utilizing the train-the-trainer method for Employment Counselors and trainers.
  • Provide annual and/or ad hoc refresher training virtually as needed.
  • Ensure all facilitators are trained in a timely, consistent manner.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in education, instructional design, organizational development, social sciences, or a relevant social field.
  • 10 + years of experience managing and designing instructor-led training, Virtual-Instructor-Led Training, and other web-based training courses
  • Advanced understanding of navigating the employment process and career transition for transitioning service members
  • Proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet and presentation tools (e.g. Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Superior use of the English language including the ability to facilitate individual and small group learning; listen for unspoken needs and respond appropriately to learner non-verbal and verbal communications.  
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally as needed to conduct training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A former military service veteran; former or current military service spouse.
  • 5 + years’ experience with career transition and conducting career transition workshops
  • 10 + years of experience managing and designing instructor-led training, Virtual-Instructor-Led Training, and other web-based training courses
  • Experience delivering workshops/training and/or train-the-trainer for the US Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans Employment Training Services (VETS) Transition Assistance Program (TAP).

  • Demonstrated experience showing strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills paired with a desire to take initiative
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment while effectively prioritizing and executing tasks while under pressure
  • Interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude.
