  • The Health, Environment, Analytics, Resilience, and Social policy (HEARS) group works to improve the conditions of America's most at-risk populations-reaching out directly to the populations in need, as well as providing strategic consulting support to workforce development and human services agencies throughout the United States.
  • The Workforce Innovations and Poverty Solutions (WIPS) Team provides rigorous research, evaluation and technical assistance to address a diverse set of critical social issue areas including employment and workforce programs, career pathways, fatherhood and family support initiatives, and interventions for families in at-risk situations. 
  • We are seeking a State Veteran Apprenticeship Coordinator to serve on a team building a pilot apprenticeship initiative for transitioning service members (TSMs). Do you have a strong background and understanding of apprenticeship and workforce development programs, partners, and stakeholders at the regional, state, and local levels?   We want you to apply!

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the implementation of a pilot pre-separation apprenticeship program for TSMs;
  • Serve as a regional coordinator for multiple pilot apprenticeship programs (of eight) across continental U.S. locations (CONUS);
  • Support the implementation of pre-separation apprenticeship programs and connecting TSMs to registered apprenticeship programs (RAPs) and Industry Recognized Apprenticeship Programs (IRAPs) prior to separation for placement post discharge;
  • Engage with regional and local stakeholders to increase partnerships and apprenticeship opportunities with partnership, community-based organizations, veterans’ organizations, Chambers of Commerce, Workforce Development Boards, Economic Development Agencies, business and industry, postsecondary institutions, and other external stakeholders; and
  • Communicate key information around apprenticeships to pilot sites, TSMs, and other external stakeholders (including promoting cooperative education, internships, shadowing and apprenticeships);

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Master’s or similar degree in education, business, communications, or related social services field.
  • Candidates that have 5 plus years of field experience at the Federal, State, and local levels with developing and implementing apprenticeship or similar workforce development/career pathway programs.
  • Candidates that have worked for 5 plus years in piloting regional, state, and/or apprenticeship, education, career pathways and workforce development programs, initiatives, and curriculum.
  • 8+ years of stakeholder engagement and partnership building with employers, schools, workforce development boards, higher education, chambers of commerce, employers, and industry associations.
  • Preferred experience working with TSMs or veterans across all other qualifications.

Professional Skills: 

  • Ability to work individually and collaboratively as part of a core implementation pilot team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with clarity and an engaging manner with diverse audiences and stakeholders
  • Adeptness at facilitating collaborative partnerships between workforce development and education agencies, organizations , and stakeholders
