What Will You Do?

ICF is a leader in providing market assessments, asset and portfolio valuations, resource planning, procurement design and execution, regulatory support, stakeholder engagement, and program support to utilities and investors. We are expanding aggressively to serve our clients’ needs in the areas of utility strategy, regulation, and litigation in North America.

As a Managing Director in ICF’s Power and Gas markets practice, you will join the leadership team of the Advisory Services practice. You will work collaboratively with other leaders to develop and execute our growth strategy for the electric utility sector and be primarily responsible for leading business development efforts in support of that strategy. This effort will require you to leverage your industry knowledge and relationships to initiate and actively engage in meetings with potential clients and to identify, pursue, and win new work. You will also support marketing efforts related to that strategy, including the development of concepts and material for thought leadership pieces. In support of client work, you will provide expert testimony in electric and gas regulatory and litigation projects and overall guidance and oversight for utility engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be present in the market and a representative senior leader of our firm. Use your knowledge of the industry to position ICF’s capabilities and services in a meaningful and strategic way.
  • Provide expert testimony in regulatory and litigation engagements
  • Support our business development efforts in the utility advisory space by building a pipeline of prospective clients and opportunities and executing on that pipeline to meet sales goals
  • Build awareness of ICF’s capabilities via targeted marketing and outreach strategies to existing and potential clients
  • Produce and publish content demonstrating thought leadership related to market developments and opportunities and challenges facing electric utilities
  • Help build and grow a team of experts that can pursue utility opportunities across North America

What are we looking for?

  • Proven thought leader in the electric utility space
  • A leading subject matter expert in utility planning, procurement, rates, and strategy
  • Strong relationships and reputation in the utility industry
  • Demonstrated track record in providing expert testimony
  • Demonstrated success with business development and client development
  • Master's Degree or PhD in economics, engineering, finance or related degree 15+ years of related energy industry experience with a focus on electric power utilities and/or utility consulting 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A dynamic, strategic, and action-oriented leader with an innovative spirit
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel when needed
