Job Description

  • The Health, Environment, Analytics, Resilience, and Social policy (HEARS) group works to improve the conditions of America's most at-risk populations-reaching out directly to the populations in need, as well as providing strategic consulting support to human services agencies throughout the United States.

  • The Workforce Innovations and Poverty Solutions (WIPS) Team provides rigorous research, evaluation and technical assistance to address a diverse set of critical social issue areas including employment and workforce programs, poverty solutions, fatherhood and family support initiatives, and interventions for families in at-risk situations. 
  • All our work is done in a professional, collegial, and intellectual environment that allows individuals the latitude they need to perform work that parallels their passions.
  • We are seeking a masters level person to serve on a new apprenticeship and education/workforce development project to provide key partnerships and communications to stakeholders in the field.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Promotes school and community relations with agencies, individuals and groups within the community regarding the standards and relevance of apprenticeship programs;
  • Represents the Team at local, state and national conferences and serve on tasks force and other committees as deemed appropriate;
  • Develops partnerships with key external stakeholders such as Business and Industry, Institutes of High Learning, Chamber of Commerce, Workforce Development Board and Economic Development that advocate the value of apprenticeship;
  • Communicates pertinent apprenticeship information to the business and school leadership;
  • Promotes cooperative education, internships, shadowing and apprenticeships;
  • Coordinates the maintenance and updating of technology and network components in curriculum; and
  • Supports and promotes industry credentialing of programs, teachers, and students.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Master’s in education, business, communications, or related social services field.
  • Candidates who have documented and deep relationships with local and state education agencies.
  • Candidates who have worked extensively with young people and around youth apprenticeship
  • Candidates that have worked for 5 plus years in the field of education around apprenticeships, career and technical education curriculum, higher education institutions, and job shadowing/internships.
  • 5+ years of stakeholder engagement and partnership building with schools, workforce development boards, higher education, chambers of commerce, employers, and industry associations.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  •  Candidates who have documented and deep relationships with local and state education agencies.
  • Candidates that have worked for 6 plus years in the field of education around apprenticeships, career and technical education curriculum, higher education institutions, and job shadowing/internships.
  • 6+ years of stakeholder engagement and partnership building with schools, workforce development boards, higher education, chambers of commerce, employers, and industry associations.

Professional Skills: 

  • Ability to work both independently and on a core team of staff members
  • Demonstrated ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
  • Demonstrated experience showing strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills paired with a desire to take initiative
  • Demonstrated experience in serving on networks, advisory boards, and other stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated experience working under pressure, both individually and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong presentation and communications skills
