Job Description:

ICF seeks an experienced Part-Time Work-Life Advisor to support the implementation of work-life services for the Department of Transportation (DOT), a Federal Agency in Washington, DC.  The on-site Work-Life Advisor will provide individual consultation and resource materials, information sessions, support groups and trainings on work-life issues such as parenting, child care, financial management, elder care, balancing work and family, and health and wellness.

The Work-Life Advisor is on-site a minimum of two days per week with daily e-mail access to ensure DOT employees nationwide have access to the services five days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a nationally distributed monthly newsletter and a weekly nutrition tip

  • Attend resource fairs

  • Provide individual work-life consultations

  • Conduct information sessions and provide resources

  • Lead support groups and trainings on work-life issues

  • Respond to email inquiries

  • Manage workplace lactation room

Basic Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development, Social Work, Psychology or a related field

  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in corporate work environments

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • A Master’s Degree in any of the above or a related field

  • Experience and understanding of work-life issues, policy development and best practices

  • Experience in working independently to develop and deliver a  menu of work life services

  • Experience providing employee consultations, resources and referral services

  • Experience developing and offering training and technical assistance in the workplace on a large variety of topics for employees in all stages of their career

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

 Professional Skills:

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to demonstrate proficiency on a large range of topics

  • Excellent people skills and relationship building skills with a large number of clients and potential clients

  • Excellent time and project management to juggle completing deadlines, priorities and demands
