ICF is looking for various Environmental Chemists to join our team of environmental chemists providing QA support of environmental projects. The position is within our Regulatory, Economics, Environmental & Energy Services (R3E) team primarily supporting EPA contracts. The team provides independent evaluation of third-party environmental laboratory sample analysis results for compliance with method and QA/QC requirements, document preparation and review, and other quality assurance support activities. The Environmental Chemists will apply his or her knowledge and work experience to support a wide range of data evaluation, project planning and review documents, and will interact with ICF environmental chemists, external experts, and clients. We are seeking top candidates for the following positions:

I. Chemists – Environmental (all levels, full and part-time opportunities in multiple U.S. locations)

Responsible for analyzing environmental samples using EPA methods and evaluating data for compliance with method and program/project QA/QC requirements.  All positions require a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, or equivalent, and 3+ years (7+ for senior positions) of experience in organic or inorganic analysis using CLP, SW-846 and other EPA methods.  Proficiency with data acquisition, instrument reporting and Laboratory Information Management systems and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. 

Organic Analytical Chemists should have recent “hands on” GC and/or GC/MS analysis experience.  Inorganic Analytical Chemists should have recent “hands on” ICP/MS, ICP, IC analysis experience.

Supervisory, data validation, and field analysis expertise are desirable.  

II. Analytical Laboratory Logistical Support (full and part-time opportunities in multiple U.S. locations)

Responsible for coordinating, tracking and documenting the flow of environmental samples between field crews collecting the samples and analytical laboratories performing sample analysis.  Also responsible for tracking the status and coordinating the distribution and ultimate storage of sample analysis results.  Requires use of tracking software and proficiency with applications software commonly used for data manipulation and storage, such as Access and Excel.  Technical background and laboratory experience a plus.

III. Air Monitoring Specialist (full and part-time opportunities in multiple U.S. locations)

Responsible for ambient air sampling and analysis.  One to 5 years of experience in air sampling for PM2.5 and lead, and sampling and analysis for ozone, CO, NOX, and SOX for monitoring and auditing projects.  Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field required.  Extensive travel, good driving record, and a demonstrated ability to work independently required.
