Job Description:  As the Cyber Information Security Engineer you will be responsible for information technology security devices in a 24/7/365 environment.  You will be responsible for monitoring, configuration changes, accounts, and software updates for client IT security devices.  The Cyber Information Security Engineer must be able to analyze, troubleshoot, and remediate issues with various IT security devices and will work closely with network operations analysts, information assurance engineers, and system administrators to ensure the availability and security of the network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all operations and maintenance for IT security devices, for the creation of technically detailed reports on, device status, change management, and hardware/software upgrades, and maintains project plans
  • Analyze and evaluate anomalous network and system activity and analyze vulnerability reports and apply appropriate patches and STIGs
  • Recognize problems by identifying abnormalities; reporting violations
  • Implement security improvements by assessing current situation; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.  Upgrade system by implementing and maintaining security control
  • Determine security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits
  • Protect system by defining access privileges, control structures and resources
  • Assist in troubleshooting and problem solving a variety of client issues
  • Keep users informed by preparing performance reports; communicating system status
  • Maintain quality service by following organization standards

Basic Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be able to obtain, and maintain, the proper clearance required for this position 
  • DoD 8570 Certification IAT II, or ability to obtain PRIOR to starting (Security + CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP)
  • Ability to obtain DoD 8570 Certification CSSP Analyst within 30days of hire (CEH, CFR, CySA+, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP, SCYBER)
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3+ years relevant cybersecurity work experience
  • Networking, Firewall, HBSS and ACAS background experience
  • Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge of computer security concepts and applications
  • Knowledge of current threats and trends in the Information Security and Technology Field

Preferred skills:

  • 3+ years of operations background, including work prioritization and planning
  • Experience using network security analysis tools such as Snort, TCPDUMP, WireShark, ELK, Splunk and other host or network-based intrusion detection systems and tools.
  • Experience with system vulnerability assessment
  • Knowledge of Linux/UNIX and Windows OS Security
  • Provide elaborate technical details and communicate effectively with various clients
