The Human Resource Immigration Specialist will be handling immigration matters and related support tasks for US expatriates and local hires requiring work sponsorship in partnership with our local and international team. This individual will act as a key internal point of contact for all North American immigration needs and support all employment-based visa applications, LPR’s and work authorization compliance.

This position will be based at the Fairfax, VA office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a central point of contact and handles day-to-day U.S. and Canada immigration related matters. Partner with managers, employees, recruiters, HR business partners and outside legal counsel to coordinate initiation, posting, and signing of all immigration related applications.
  • Educate managers, recruiters and HR business partners on employee U.S. immigration concerns, strategies, and guidelines.
  • Provide immigration support for employees, partnering with external counsel and HR business partners, on items including nonimmigrant visa services, lawful permanent resident applications, and immigration policy, compliance and planning.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively on immigration requirements, government procedures, case processing times to HR business partners, recruiters, employees and appropriate business leaders.
  • Create and maintain Immigration Teams Website. Carefully track and monitor critical deadlines and proactively identify and discuss with appropriate individuals.
  • Organize and track immigration service and filing costs related to visas and LPR applications. Communicate necessary payments and deductions to finance (payroll) department; track expenses.
  • Maintain immigration compliance records including quality control, data input, and maintaining the Public Access Files.
  • Handle travel & employment verification for foreign nationals.
  • Assist colleagues and external counsel to prepare expatriate assignment agreements and local hire employment contracts.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years progressive work experience in employment-based U.S. inbound immigration application.
  • Experience in the administration of immigration programs and/or international assignments within the human resources department.
  • Experience providing visa support – both temporary and green card.
  • Working knowledge of HR processes, procedures, roles and employment law fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
