The HBSS Technician is responsible for deployment and activation for client systems and supporting network infrastructure.
Ensure that HBSS agents are installed on all client systems within the environment
Analyze gaps, and assist with future network design and architecture
Identify potential risks to systems, networks, and controls before they become incidents
Analyze and develop current and future security requirements based on mission need
Execute processes to analyze and meet system security requirements as part of a formal certification and accreditation process.
Ensure that the appropriate HBSS modules are deployed to keep those systems compliant with DoD and client organizational mandates
Manage McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) policies and McAfee host based IDS and IPS systems
Troubleshoot, resolve and provide technical guidance for IT security incidents and provide forensic analysis
Write and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
5 years’ experience in deployment and activation of client systems and supporting network infrastructure with 1 of those years in Information Assurance and/or system security and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in work experience.
Working knowledge of Microsoft , Apple and UNIX operating systems
Strong ability to develop effective written procedures and SOPs to guide daily operations
Working knowledge of cyber security tools for perimeter security, vulnerability management, host based security, network monitoring, etc.Ability to obtain and maintain active DoD clearance
Must be DoD 8570 compliant and maintain required certifications for an IAT II appointment
Understanding of DoD C&A or IA policies, guidance, and best practices.
Experience using DoD IA tools (e.g., Nessus, Host Based Security System (HBSS)
Experience evaluating and managing vulnerabilities for a DoD network
The ability to develop and execute detailed plans for cybersecurity projects
Knowledge of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and SCAP scans
Experience with Vulnerability Management System (VMS), System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
Ability to work a night shift position.
Customer friendly with excellent written, verbal and problem solving skills.
Able to multi-task and work independently within a team environment.
